Things I’d like to know…

–I’d like to know why we only find out now that training the Iraqi army and police has been severely hampered by some obscure regulation against the Department of Defense doing that kind of thing and the fact that there isn’t a specific budget for it?

–I’d like to know how Teddy Kennedy keeps getting elected term after term, after it was made known (among other things on a long list) that he got kicked out of Harvard for cheating, left a girl to die of asphyxiation in a car submerged under a few feet of water while he went about the business of covering his ass, and secretly negotiated with the Soviet Union to make Ronald Reagan look bad? And when he wins his next election I suppose I’ll still be wondering.

— I’d like to know just what the hell was going through George Bush’s mind when he destroyed the budget surplus and maxed out the government credit card on more pork at a time when the country is at war? I’d like to know if he thought that he could make the Democrats like him by spending like mad on the kind of stuff that’s their traditional pork? And all this after Clinton proved that he couldn’t make the Republicans like him by balancing the budget and substantially reforming welfare.

–I’d like to know why nobody seems the least bit spooked by the fact that the Chinese secret service has tried to funnel money into attempts to elect Democrats (the Al Gore/ Buddhist temple scandal) and that Osama bin Ladin and Al Queda have essentially endorsed the Democratic Party?

–With Iran about to go nuclear, I’d like to know if the West Europeans are convinced that its a law of nature that the US will step in and save their sorry asses yet again, after heaping abuse upon us and the friends we’ve got in the East and doing nothing in the way of saving themselves?

–About both pro and anti-war congresscritturs, I’d like to know why not a one of them surveyed could name the difference between Sunni and Shiite?

–I’d like to know why, after the vivid historical lesson of Prohibition and the spectacular failure of the War on Drugs we are still putting people in jail for smoking reefer?

–I’d like to know why people who announce that they don’t believe in evolution, or that the universe is very old and incredibly vast, are allowed to matriculate from high school, get college degrees, vote and sign contracts in their own name – much less get elected to office?

I don’t really expect to get answers to any of these, just wondering is all.
